9-2A

Our Bible story this week comes from the Read and Share Bible book, Day 1 and 2 of Creation.

Day 1 Gen. 1: 1-5, In the beginning God made heaven and earth. At first it was empty and dark. But God gathered up the light and called it day. Then He gathered up the darkness and called it night. God was watching over everything. It was GOOD!

Day 2 GEN. 1: 6-8, On day two God divided the air from the water. He put some water above the air and some below it. He named the air sky. It was GOOD!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. This week your child will be able to apply many of the concepts they've been exposed to during the first 2 weeks of PDO.

Color-painting a butterfly blue, finding blue things in our classroom

Shape-making a square out of popsicle sticks and painting it blue, matching popsicle sticks to a    template that is square, finding squares in our classroom

Number-placing 1 square blue block on a large #1, stamping blue #1's

Prepositions- placing a blue bucket on the blue line

Literature-singing the ABC song, finding letters in our room, looking at books, listening to stories

Large motor-jumping from 1 blue puddle to the next, playing outdoors and in the Commons

Small motor-transferring pom pons form a bag to a blue bowl using our fingers

Music- It's a Square,  God Created,  God is so Good,  Rejoice in the Lord Always,  Baby Bumble Bee,  Looby Lou,  ABC song,  Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes,  Bubble Gum

Bible Story-Please use this Bible story as you talk with your child abut Creation. The Creation unit will run for 4 weeks. At the end of this period your child will bring home a book that they made about Creation.
Key points: God made it. It was good.

Extra activities-if time permits, will be A/B/A patterning and discussing what we did over the summer

This is how we spent the day.

We are getting better at working puzzles.

I am happy when eating breakfast.

We love playing with the parking garage and the car wash.

Here we are making squares using a template and popsicle sticks.

The students are practicing using paint dabbers around a square.

Using a large #1, the class practices using square shapes to adhere to individual velcro spots located on the #1.

It was fun to stamp #1's on a sheet of paper.

Today the class used blue paint to paint a square frame blue. Last week we glued the popsicle sticks together to make the frame.

This is the finished project for the color, shape and number board for the month of August. The boys and girls love seeing their work displayed.

Here we have the Creation poster that will be used during Jesus tim as we talk about the things in our world that God created.

We examined blue balloons and tried to figure out what they were stuffed with. It turned out they were filled with rice and beans.

Time to enjoy a good book. The students looked at books. I read two books that I had chosen and I also read books to individual students that they had chosen.

Weather frog got some new clothes today. A raincoat and an umbrella.

Ring Around the Rosie is standard request.

Today we tried a new song LOOBY LOU. The class did quite well with it and seemed to enjoy it.

We did some A-B-A patterning on our new magnetic board.

It was too wet to go outside. We enjoy some indoor recess in the Commons.

We enjoyed puddle jumping today. We have some very good jumpers.

Playing with blue balloons turned out to be lots of fun.

This is the first page of our Creation book.

On this page we used crayons to color Day 1.

Here we used our fingers to move blue pom pons from the bag to the blue bowl.

This is one of the books that I chose to read to the class today.

This was the other book.

This is a look at the 1st day of Creation.

PLAY DOH time is FUN time.
