Wine Into Water, John 2

A Wedding Party

One day, Jesus and his helper friends (disciples), went to a wedding party. It was a happy time for everyone. There was food to eat and wine to drink. But Jesus' mother came over to him. "Something terrible has happened," she said. "They ran out of wine!" Then she looked at the servants. "Do whatever Jesus tells you," she said. There were six very big stone jars nearby. Jesus told the servants, "Fill those jars to the top. Now dip some out," said Jesus. "Give it to the people." The servant dipped out the water. But it was not water anymore! It was wine! The people drank it. Some of them said it was the best wine at the party. They did not know it had been plain water. But the servants knew. God had given Jesus special power, because Jesus was God's Son.

Key Points:
What the children will learn (keeping it VERY basic):
Jesus fixed the problem at the wedding. He helps us solve our problems. He cares.
He performed a miracle.

Children will learn about Jesus’ power through exploration of the story of Jesus turning water to wine. Jesus turning water to wine at the wedding in Cana, tells of the first of Jesus’ miracles (not magic), and is significant because it shows how Jesus revealed his power to the people. Jesus is truly all we need.

Song:

Running Over
Running over, running over
My cup is full and running over
Since the Lord made me
I’m as happy as can be
My cup is full and running over

verse 3 since the Lord loves me

Enjoying quite time with our books.

They are so into the books.

I told the story of the mitten.

We found pink in our room.

We are learning about Dental Health this week.

After reading the Mitten story to the class, I repeated the story using this song. As I held up the animals the children sang the song too.

Mitten lacing.

The Commons was occupied so we switched rooms and played in Mrs. Derrington's room for recess.

We used the sensory box filled with rice and colored lids.

We found hearts in RM B.

We enjoyed playing with the stuffed animals.
We got dressed up for the wedding at Cana.We acted out the story, and imagined what it was like to see Jesus' first miracle.

Walking to the wedding.

Here we are at the feast. Oh No, they ran out of wine! No worries Jesus took care of everything.

We think there might have been music at the wedding. Here we are dancing.

If there was dancing there was music so we used the instruments..... oh what a sound we made.

That was our day. Blessing to all.
