Oct. 28

It was a very good day in Rm-A. The children decorated mini pumpkins. They used markers and stickers. The children hammered golf tees into the pumpkins. Since these are extra pumpkins from Trunk or Treat, the children shared the gourd and worked together to create pumpkin works of art. Very creative, so original! Other activities offered today included: toys, stamping circles, making a Jack-O-Lantern using daubers and matching pumpkin halves by number-1, 2, 3. The boys and girls practiced using scissors to cut a Jack-O-Lantern wind sock. Daubers were used to fill in circles on the scarecrows. Each child used stickers to make a face on a small paper pumpkin. These are displayed on the door to our classroom. The children enjoyed some quiet time to look at books. The Bible story was Hannah and Samuel. The children took turns throwing and catching a small orange ball. They also participated in singing a song about Martin Luther. This week the boys and girls have heard the story of Martin Luther. We enjoyed playing in the Commons with the puppets, balls, scooters and a large tunnel. Back in the room, we sang some seasonal songs and learned a few finger plays. Before lunch, I carved the class pumpkin. Each day more of the pumpkin will be carved. Yesterday the top of the pumpkin was opened and we scooped out the insides. Today the girls and boys enjoyed playing in the seeds and pulp. We discussed how the insides looked, felt and smelled. The Wednesday children instructed me to carve a circular nose. This day was a wonderful gift from God!
