Oct. 26

We had a wonderful day in PDO. The day started with the children decorating mini pumpkins. They used markers and stickers. The children could hammer golf tees into the pumpkins. Since these are extra pumpkins from Trunk or Treat, the children shared the gourd and worked together to create pumpkin works of art. Very creative, so original! Other activities offered today included: toys, stamping circles, making a Jack-O-Lantern using stickers, matching pumpkin halves by number-1, 2, 3. The boys and girls practiced using scissor to cut a Jack-O-Lantern wind sock. Daubers were used to make scarecrows and Jack-O-Lanterns. The children enjoyed some quiet time to look at books. The Bible story was Hannah and Samuel. the children took turns throwing and catching a small orange ball. They also participated in singing a song about Martin Luther. This week the boys and girls will hear the story of Martin Luther. It was a nice day to play outdoors. Back in the room, we sang some seasonal songs and learned a few finger plays. Before lunch, I carved the class pumpkin. Each day more of the pumpkin will be carved. Today the top of the pumpkin was opened and we scooped out the insides. We discussed how the insides looked, felt and smelled.
