Bible story:

Mark 1:11  And a voice came from heaven, "You are My Beloved Son; with You I am well pleased."

God Is Pleased

John the Baptist was a prophet who lived in the wilderness near Jerusalem. He ate grasshoppers and honey. His clothes were made of camel's hair, and he always wore a big leather belt. John was very wise. Many people came to hear him preach. He baptized them in the Jordan River. One day, Jesus came and asked John to baptize Him. John didn't want to because he knew who Jesus was and that He was Holy. "You should baptize me," he said to Jesus. But Jesus said it was right for John to baptize Him. So John baptized Jesus in the river. When Jesus rose out of the water, the sky opened and the Spirit of God, like a dove, came down to Him. at the same time, a voice from heaven said, "You are My own dear Son. I am very pleased with You." Jesus invites us to be baptized, too. In Baptism, Jesus washes away our sins and makes us God's children.

Take a look at how we played and learned today......GO BOBCATS!!!!!

The day started with play doh.

 We love play doh.

We are so creative.

A boy and his toys.

Let's play house.

I traced a dot to dot baptismal shell.

What a FEAST.

The children had fun making a snowman.

We made hands that will be displayed in the entry way to the Commons.

Chalking is even more fun with a friend.

Button stringing is getting easier to do.

We worked as a team using numbers, letters, snowmen and gingerbread people to create a one of a kind mural.

A-B-A patterning with blocks.

Decorating my hand print.

The peg board was a favorite activity with the class today.

The sensory table was enjoyed by many.

Jesus Time.

Our story about Jesus' baptism.

We baptized our baby doll.

I read this story. This is a story using the song lyrics.

This was also a book that I read.

I had the class guess the animal that goes with each pair of feet.

Then I turned the page and the answer was given. We are VERY good guessers.

Enjoying a book

We found white in our room. The door and the Altar were the first white items we found. The children were very observant today!

Recess today consisted of tunnels, hopping balls, hula hoops, small circular mats, cones and hoops. At the end of recess the children participated in races; running, hopping and galloping from one end of the Commons to the other.

This is where our handprints are displayed; along with PS-8th grade student handprints. The cross is in the center. "We love our school because" is the title of this project. PS-8th grade students wrote "why" they love ZLS and placed this message on their handprints.

PDO admired the hand project.

We walked to church and found inportant parts of our Bible story in the Sanctuary. The Bible, God's word and the water are VERY important parts of a baptism.

We found a shell on the Parament.

We learned about the words on the wall, the water display, the pitcher used to fill the glass bowl on top of the baptismal font and the large baptismal candle. Then I took the class to see the baptismal banners that have been made for upcoming baptisms.

Mitten Do-A -Dot activity.

Exploring the peg board.

Your Zion Bobcat was busy today; learning and growing in God's love.
