5-2

Due to the weather report of rain, we took and early recess. The ELP children dug in the rock pit, kicked, rolled and threw balls. They also ran around and rode in vehicles. Imaginations grew as they played in the boats and houses. Social and emotional growth took place as they interacted with their peers.

Acts 9:36-43 English Standard Version (ESV)

Dorcas Restored to Life

36 Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas.[a] She was full of good works and acts of charity. 37 In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. 38 Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Please come to us without delay.” 39 So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics[b] and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. 41 And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. 43 And he stayed in Joppa for many days with one Simon, a tanner.

Connection with the Gospel:
This miracle shows that even the disciples had been given the power to raise the dead after Jesus ascended into heaven. Jesus instructed the disciples to spread the news about the Lord.  Jesus empowered the disciples to do what He called them to do, such as raise the dead and heal the sick.  The disciples demonstrated the Lord’s power to raise the dead, but Peter remained in Joppa to help the people learn more about the Lord and His salvation for them.

Connection with Life:
This is an excellent time to remind the children that the Lord is the Author of life and His desire is for us to live in such a way that our lives impact others.  Ask the children how Dorcas is remembered in this story and how Peter is remembered in this story.  Challenge them to think about the ways in which their lives can make a difference to others.

The pictures!

The boys and girls have developed a strong interest in numbers. We stamped the numbers, counted the stampers and got a discussion going about age. We discussed that some friends are 2 and others are 3. Some children impressed each other as they demonstrated how high they could count. The girls and boys helped each other count dolls, blocks etc.

Princess and Knight castles are still of interest to the majority of the student body.

The class took turns placing poms on the butterfly template either by using their fingers or a clothes pin to pick up the poms and place them on corresponding color.

Butterfly color match. At this point all children can name the colors that they were exposed to during the school year.
A color coloring book to recap the colors presented this year.

Memory game with cards depicting flowers insects and butterflies.
During Jesus Time we are learning about Dorcas. See if your child can retell the story of her life. This coloring sheet might prompt some ideas for them to share with you.

The students chose either a large or small diamond to trace.

Here the girls and boys are viewing a butterfly made of large and small ovals. The students chose the color and size  of the  ovals to create their own butterfly. With Spring well underway we have been looking at pics of butterflies, flowers and insects. I have heard many interesting stories about this topic.
Using a rainbow crayon each child drew a sky full of rainbows.

Day 3 f our Bible story.

 Yippee no jackets needed.
Enjoying great friends and super books.

 Bible Story Video.
Though we are young, we can be helpers too.
Dorcas served others by taking care of them, cooking meals and cleaning for them.
She told them all about Jesus.

She used her gift of sewing to give the poor new clothes.
She loved people of all ages.
When she became sick and died,
her friend Peter prayed to God to give her life. God answered his prayer and Dorcas continued her work.
The last season, Spring, for the students to show on the tree.

Learning to assemble a floor puzzle.

The number 10. Ten butterflies were stamped on #10.
These books were super!

 Looking for May flowers.

Thanks for sharing your precious children with us. God has truly blessed each of you with awesome children. They have the love of Jesus in their hearts.

Have a relaxing evening.
