11-26

Over the weekend I changed out the toys and reset the room for the month of December. The color is green, the number is 5, the shape is triangle. Over the next few weeks we will spend Jesus Time looking at several aspects of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Today and the rest of the week the lesson centers around the angel Gabriel and Mary, mother of Jesus.

The Bible story that I read to the class comes from the Read and Share Children's Bible. The Bible reference is Luke 1:26-38.

Mary's Big Surprise
Not long after his visit to Zachariah, the angel Gabriel went to see a young women named Mary. She was a cousin to Elizabeth, Zachariah's wife. Mary was engaged to marry Joseph, the carpenter. "Don't be afraid, Mary," the angel said. "God is pleaded with you. You will have a baby and will name Him Jesus. He will be called the Son of God." This was a big surprise to Mary.

Learning Centers for the week of 11-24.

"Thank Him"
Thank Him, thank Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love;
Thank Him, thank Him, all ye little children,
God is love, God is love.
( I take requests from the class as to what we are thankful for)

Finger Play:

Here is the church
Here is the steeple
Open up the doors
and see all the people

Songs for December:

Away in the Manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.

The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.

We Wish you a Merry Christmas

We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose
and if you ever saw it
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
play in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

Jingle Bells

Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way.
Oh! what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way;
Oh! what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.
