10-20A

I hope everyone enjoyed the extra long weekend. This week we conclude the story of Noah. From the Read and Share Bible. This is the story your child heard today.

Genesis 7:12, 8:1-19, The Dove
After 40 days and 40 nights, the rain stopped, but it still wasn't time to get off the boat. Water was everywhere. One day Noah let a little dove fly out to see what was happening on the earth. It brought a green leaf back. Hooray! The plants were growing again! It was almost time to come out.

Genesis 8:18-22, 9:1-17, The Rainbow
When everyone was out of the boat, Noah built an altar. He thanked God for keeping them safe. Then something wonderful happened! God put a beautiful rainbow in the sky and made Noah a promise. "I will never flood the whole earth like that again," God said. When God makes a promise, He keeps it.

The Bible story: The Dove and the Promise.

This is the last week of the Noah's ark story. I am so pleased with the knowledge the children now have. Please ask them to tell the story. They will need prompting but they are Very Good at telling this story.

These are the books I read to the students today.

The day began with the boys and girls using  Mr. Potato head pieces to form some SILLY Jack-O-Lanterns!

The class enjoyed playing with toys.

We used colored pencils to color a picture of Noah and the dove.

These children are playing with magnetic pieces that are pictures of blue, red and orange items. Example: a blueberry, a red car, and an orange shirt. There was a lot of conversation about the color of each item. Some students grouped the pictures by color. Others named the picture and told something about it. I planned this activity as a way to review the colors we've learned so far. I was pleased to see it also enriched their language  and thinking skills.

The class painted orange today. They chose either to paint a pumpkin or an orange.

We used  a yellow paint dabber to fill in circles for the eyes, nose and mouth our Jack-O-Lantern.

The class made a Halloween face on the pumpkin using stickers. These are the wax paper pumpkins we made last week when we squished red and yellow paint together to make the color orange.

The class used a painted brush to spread glue on a rainbow template.

The children used precut construction paper squares of various colors to place on the rainbow.

These rainbows were crafted with Love and look SO Cute.

We used a blue dabber to fill in the circles on the scarecrow. Then the class colored the scarecrow.

We stamped LARGE, MEDIUM and SMALL  orange circles.

The boys and girls looked at 2 large pumpkins. We discussed what the pumpkins looked like and how they felt. Next week we will carve them.

Enjoy, as we dance and sing to RingAround the Rosie.

We played outside on this sunny day.

Weather Frog is dressed for a Fall day.

This is a song we are learning.

This is another song we are learning.

We sang this song and substituted the words "at the zoo" for "on the ark". We named some animals on the ark, then vocalized the sounds these animals make.

We played a Halloween matching game.

Fun in the sensory table.

We checked our garden and all the crops are still producing. We got to sniff the mint leaves.

Play doh time before nap time.
This concludes Monday.
