Zion's Parents Day Out

11-8

Our short day began with vehicles, the parking garage and the car wash. Imaginations were in full swing as cars and trucks raced around the table. The Bible story message today was thankfulness for food that's healthy and builds strong bodies. We named our favorite foods to eat. Then we discussed what food group it belonged in. Now that was a challenge.

Sensory table got us thinking about words like full/empty, heavy/light, smooth/rough and big/little. We learned that the kernels can be yellow, brown and red.
The students enjoyed picking kernels of corn off the cob. It was fun and a good fine motor skill.

The children matched pictures of food. As a group, we talked about healthy foods and what category the food belonged in.

Future florists? The boys sure know how to arrange flowers.
Of course when one dresses in a costume, one needs to check himself out in the mirror.

Patterning crosses.

Fastening boards. Still challenging for most of the students.
Art for the lobby; in the making.

The girls and boys chose a picture of food to color. This activity reminds us to be Thankful for our food. It is a blessing from God.

Geo boards - a good activity for fine motor skill, for math skills in regard to shapes and developing vocabulary as children describe how to use the equipment, properties of rubber bands and naming shapes that were made.
Drawing teeth in the croc's mouth.
Adding leaves to trees, so the giraffe has something to eat.
Placing balloons on the cake builds math vocab (color, length, amount and prepositions).
Girls and boys had turkeys 1-4 in front of them and it was their job to place leaves on each turkey that corresponded to the numeral on the bird.

Since the irrigation system was being installed today, we played in the Commons.

After the Commons, we took a walk looking for crosses. Here are 2 examples.

Fall/Thanksgiving songs and finger plays that we learned today.
Books of the day.

That concludes the blog for a short, but busy day.
Enjoy!!
