12-7

Some say that there is little value in play. However play is our work. As you view this blog with your child, ask some detailed and open ended questions about their day. I am sure each child will be able to share a positive learning experience from today.

 HAPPY VIEWING!

 The Wheels on the Bus......
Learning numbers 1-10.

Row your boat.
The children have enjoyed role playing an office worker. Tomorrow will be the last day. Fun while it lasted.

We are learning the names of the instruments and how to play them.
The same can be said for the tools. I have heard the children discussing how mom and dad use tools at home.
 Experiences with toys.

Girls and boys had the opportunity to trace a triangle.

Today we put some finishing touches on the Christmas stockings.
Green play doh was offered to the class today. We have 2 shades of green play doh available.

 Small/large patterning of green triangles.
Can you guess what color reindeer comes next? If not perhaps your child could tell you.
Bible story coloring sheet.

The boys and girls chose a coloring sheet to paint green. Then we found green in our classroom.

Matching penguins by color.
Cookie cutter shadows. The ELP students matched cookie cutters to the shadow outlines. Pretty easy for most of the group.

Well, we thought we were going to the Commons for recess. To our surprise Mrs. Mudd's preschool class followed and invited us to participate in a holiday science experiment.

3 candy canes, 3 glasses of water: ice water, room temp. water and heated water. The preschoolers had to make a prediction on which candy cane would melt the fastest when dropped into the waster glasses.

ELP students noticed right away that the heated water was SO HOT it was boiling.
After a 2min observation period the children noticed that the candy cane it the boiling water was dissolving the fastest. We also discovered that the candy cane in the ice water was the slowest to dissolve. Words we learned: experiment, ice, room temp and boiling water. Melt/dissolve and prediction.
Then it was time to play a new game. Small plastic balls were thrown around the Commons and the children ran to collect as many balls as possible and place them in a basket. Sure got their heart rate up.

Green objects on the flannel board.
Featured books.
 Nativity on the magnetic board.

May all of you have a peaceful and restful evening.
