12-1
The Bible story:
Now Mary loved a man named Joseph. They were going to be married. One day Joseph had to take a trip to the city of Bethlehem. So Mary went with him. The city of Bethlehem was far away. Mary rode on the back of a donkey and Joseph walked beside them.
During Jesus Time we talked about Advent, the Hope candle and the Bible story. We learned that Joseph had to be counted. Since Mary was expecting a baby, she rode on a donkey. We now know that the donkey will make an appearance in more than one Bible story. Today we saw the donkey as Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem. We will learn about another donkey when we hear the story of Palm Sunday.

Here are pictures from our day in PDO:

We started the day by playing toys with our friends.

Due to the weather and a small turn out of children, we combined classes and played in Mrs. Derrington's room.

We used a green marker to trace around a triangle. Good job boys and girls!

The colored cards had 1 number on each card and the girls and boys placed that amount of clothes pins on the card.

We used crayons to color 5 balloons.

Books are fun to look at.

We prepared the altar for Jesus Time.

We lit the first Advent candle, the candle named Hope.

The Bible story told us about the angel visiting Joseph. We then learned about a donkey that carried Mary to Bethlehem.

These are the 2 books that I read to the class. The 1st book told of the birth of Jesus. The 2nd book was about the training that reindeers complete in order to pull Santa's sleigh.

We used stampers to retell the Bible story.

Wow, the chalkboard was turned around to reveal a white board. As you can tell the class enjoyed using markers to design works of art.

We stamped green triangles.

We matched bows by color.

We decorated stockings that will be hung in our hallway.

To conclude the day, we had a game of bow toss.

While the cots were being set up the children played with play doh.
It was great to be together again. I hope all families had a blessed Thanksgiving and a relaxing break.
