Welcome to our very short week. Over the weekend I changed out the toys and reset the room for the month of December. The color is green, the number is 5, the shape is triangle. Over the next few weeks, we will spend Jesus Time, looking at several aspects of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Today and the rest of the week the lesson centers around the angel Gabriel and Mary, mother of Jesus.

The Bible story that I read to the class comes from the Read and Share Children's Bible. The Bible reference is Luke 1:26-38.

Mary's Big Surprise
Not long after his visit to Zachariah, the angel Gabriel went to see a young women named Mary. She was a cousin to Elizabeth, Zachariah's wife. Mary was engaged to marry Joseph, the carpenter. "Don't be afraid, Mary," the angel said. "God is pleased with you. You will have a baby and will name Him Jesus. He will be called the Son of God." This was a big surprise to Mary.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose
and if you ever saw it
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
play in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

Jingle Bells

We used textured brushes to paint our paper green.

The class enjoyed threading a needle (plastic) followed by sewing the pumpkin.

Wow, 3 boys sharing the trains.

Place the needles in a hole and pull it out the other side.

I can make a green collage using triangles.

Small, medium and large... I can match all 3 pumpkins.

As a class, we painted angels.

We used tiny beads and placed them on a pipe cleaner.

We worked hard to make these pretty ornaments to hang on our Christmas tree.

So proud of my candy cane.

We finished our pilgrim vests.

Now that's cute. Perhaps we have a fashion model in the making.

We painted a picture of Mary to remind us of our Bible story.

What a great day to play outside.
