We were busy today! Check out all the learning that took place today.


 Play doh - exploring creativity, sharing tools, waiting and taking turns.
 Puzzles - visual discrimination, thinking skills, spatial awareness.
Holy Spirit craft - controlled fine motor skills, spreading glue, staying with in the lines, learning to decorate with glitter.


 Choosing a book - book handling skills, fostering a love for books and other printed material.
 Cooperative play - sharing, taking turns.




 # 1, 2, 3, - numeral recognition, number order, amounts, oral counting, fine motor skills.
Vehicles - sharing space, taking turns, cooperation, proper interactions with friends/toys, patience.
 Winter hats -  #1-10, number recognition, numerical order.
Number amount, recognition of numbers 1-3, learning to clip with a clothes pin, fine motor.

 Muffin tin and erasers in the shape of hearts and snowmen - learning how to work tweezers, strengthening muscles in hand and fingers, one to one correspondence, hand eye coordination.
Role playing a mommy with baby -showing compassion, recall of personal experiences.
 Free choice - sharing spaces and toys, including others, demonstrating patience, taking turns.
  Magnetic Dinosaurs -working together, expanding knowledge, increasing vocabulary, spatial awareness.
 Baptizing a doll - sacrament of baptism - increases understanding, expands vocabulary, allows them to share the faith.



Stick puppets - John, Jesus, Holy Spirit - gives them ownership and increases understanding of story, allows child to share the faith through puppets.
Art easel - exposure to space and various art materials, develops hand eye coordination, exploration of color and color blending, strengthens hand and arm muscle. allows for self expression.




 The Bible story - monitor is another way to engage class.

 Review of the birth of John - memory recall

 Being in the word - increases and strengthens faith.
Learning about a creation of God's the penguin.
 Outdoor play - develops large muscles, releases energy, builds coordination,  fresh air stimulates growth,  builds strong/healthy bodies. teaches them about nature/how to care for environment.











 Campus walk to church - gives students an opportunity to demonstrate listening and following direction skills, teaches safety,  shows them a larger picture of Zion,
For fun instead of stairs we used the elevator. This activity gave them new words to share, increased trust, and developed an understanding of the term elevator.
 We used the church word book to help us find signs of baptism in our sanctuary.
 We also looked at other pictures in the book and tried to find them in the church. Vocab was increased.
 Students experienced the sound of a piano: high and low notes and the sound this instrument makes.
 They got to play a few keys.
Using visual discrimination they transferred knowledge from the pictures in the book to actual objects in the church like hymnal and Bible; making the connection relevant to them.

 Nursery rhyme - The 3 Little Kittens. Memorization skills increased.
Thanks for sending in the January Take Home project. The children are quite pleased with their work. Some children enjoyed telling the class how they made their snowflake. These creations tie in well with what we are learning. That is,  how God created each of us uniquely.

 Sensory Table offers children an opportunity to fill, scoop, cut/tear packing material, learn how to use tweezers and magnifying glass. They also learned the importance of sharing space and objects. Vocabulary was increased, along with hand eye coordination,

Concluding our day of learning we discussed types of weather, described today's weather and learning to recognize signs of winter. We also studied 2 winter animals the penguin and the polar bear.
