1-22

Welcome to the 1st day of National Lutherans Schools Week. It is such a blessing to share God's love with families across the nation and join in events with schools around the nation in celebration of NLSW. ELP is thankful for our school, thankful for parents who realize the importance of a Christian Education, thankful for parents/extended family members that support the children, teachers and school with their time, talents, treasures and certainly their prayers. This looks to be a super week. Reminder: the dress up days is

Sensory table filled with snow. Containers available for filling; either by using hands or using tweezers.
Scissors available for cutting the peanuts or children could use their hands for tearing.
Magnifying glasses available for examining the peanut's cellular structure.

 House keeping dramatic play.
Evie returned her snowflake as did a few other students. Theses snowflakes are being placed on the class tree. We would love to have them returned but we understand if your child wants to keep theirs at home. All snowflakes will be sent home mid Feb.

Shades of pink/red play doh and 4 new tools to stamp in the play doh made for an exciting time at the play doh table.
The boys and girls stamped 6 purple churches on the number 6.
Do-a-dot star. Children chose the color dauber to use. It's hard to make choices.

This was the 1st time the girls and boys used colored pencils to draw and color with. Some loved the experience and others not so much. I will continue to work with students on the correct way to hold a pencil. This will enhance their experience. They colored the Bible story of John the Baptist.
Mitten painting. It is  SO hard to chose just one color of paint. In order to get ready for preschool,  the children will have more opportunities to make choices and live with the choice they make. So that next year, they will be ready for preschool and all the options they will have.
The children have NO problem matching mittens by color, that's easy. The difficulty is fastening the pair together using a clothes pin.

 Dinosaurs on the magnetic board.
Jesus story.

Temps were great BUT the playground was too wet. We played in the Commons.

Played in Rm B.

The small gingerbread template showed where each shape was to be placed. Students had to place the shapes on the large gingerbread man just the same way the shapes appeared on the small one. They were up for the challenge and did very well.

We love Jim Gill and look forward to dancing with him in person. The concert will be held in the  church sanctuary on Feb 9th at 6pm.  You will be home in time for your child's bedtime. Please mark your calendar. We hope to see you there. This is a free event.  CDs will be available for purchase. This area will be off to the side and easily avoided if you don't want to purchase.

In place of books, Scholastic magazines were used. We learned about penguins and reviewed our knowledge of Fall trees.
3 pairs of mittens were used to introduce the nursery rhyme the 3 little kittens.
We dressed Weather frog for a nice sunny day.
I pray that God will keep students and families free of illness. To Him be the Glory.
