The children and I had a super day learning through play.
Gross motor activities.
Puzzles = visual discrimination, hand/eye coordination and fine motor development to name just a few skills.
Play doh is a sensory activity that enjoyed by many children. It allows children to express themselves creatively while developing fine motor skills.
We are making friends.
Balancing on the rocking horse.
Preparing food... notice the sharing and cooperation taking place.
Exploring the various brushes and the color blue while painting at the easel.
In the sensory table, that is filled with lentils, the children experience textures, various scoops, techniques on how to fill vessels, as welling as pouring and sifting. The girls and boys also develop language skills. Children figure out how to share the space and equipment.
The Jesus story. The title says it all. Very appropriate for this age group. Jesus on their level of understanding.
Meal time/role playing.
These children are engaged in exploring the book of their choice.
Exploring the various aspects of the ELP playground.
I read this book to the class. It showed various ways people in our world use tools in their daily life.

Thanks for checking out the blog.
These children have come along way socially and emotionally in just a short period of time. I can't wait to see what God has planned for us this year.
Sometimes it's hard to wait for a turn. The mini trampoline is very popular and a good way to burn off some energy indoors.
This pic shows one way children experience music in the classroom. They love to sing and dance along.
We are in Ms. Baucom's room. Throughout the year we trade rooms for 20mins. or so to experience a new environment. We will do this in inclement weather, especially.
A song we are learning to help us associate the color word with the actual color. In this case the color of clothing we are wearing.
An ELP favorite finger play.
We are learning to be a helper. God calls us to help others.
To close out this blog entry, what better way to do so then with prayer.
